Rotary Club Makes a Difference at Tesco Food Collection

5th December 2017

A huge THANK YOU goes to Raz Zoers of the Rotary Club in Epping for Coordinating this December’s Food Collection.

From Thursday 30th November 2017 to Saturday 2nd December over 50 volunteers from Rotary and Epping Forest Foodbank came together to encourage shoppers at Epping’s Tesco Superstore to purchase and donate at least one non-perishable item from a shopping wish list and pop it in the collection trolleys at the end of their shop.

A total of 84 crates were jammed packed with items such as tinned vegetables, tinned fruit, long life milk and fruit juice, instant mash potato and Christmas Fare.  This donation was split to support Epping Forest and Islington Foodbanks and taken back to the foodbank’s warehouses for weighing in and sorting.

The total weight collected was 1486.3 KG which will be converted into a monetary value and Tesco will give back 20% of the total amount straight back to the Trussell Trust to benefit the Foodbanks to continue to be there for local people in crisis.

A total of £555 was collected through Rotary collection buckets in  a separate collection over the 3 days which local people donated to. This amount will be given directly to Epping Forest Foodbank.

A huge thank you to all the Epping Tesco Superstore’s customers, the Rotary Club and Epping Forest Foodbank volunteers for making this happen!
