Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.

Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. We want you to enjoy volunteering and there are lots of ways to get involved. Whatever role you choose, you will make a real difference to the life of someone in crisis.

Volunteer Coordinator

We are looking for a motivated person with excellent communication skills to join our volunteer team as Volunteer Coordinator, ideally to start immediately. This position involves volunteer recruitment, training and coordinating volunteer rotas. Read more

Media Volunteer

 We are looking for someone to take over from our current Media Volunteer, starting with immediate effect.  This role involves creating posts for the foodbank’s Facebook and Twitter pages, writing articles for the foodbank website and updating the website. Read more


Epping Forest Foodbank is in an exciting season of expansion, so we are looking for a proactive, positive person ideally with experience in grant and bid writing to help us ensure we are able to sustain and continue to develop the best service to local people in crisis and to our volunteers. Research into local and regional opportunities supported by our grant finder communications.

Helping at a Foodbank Centre – Saturdays

Join a friendly, experienced team of volunteers to help transport pre-packed emergency parcels to our foodbank centre based at Debden Library (Epping Forest College), meet clients and give out food parcels. Have an informal chat with clients over a cup of tea, to discuss their situation and signpost to further support. This role requires two and a half hours per week on a rota system.

Voucher/Referral Agency Coordinator

Foodbanks work with front line agencies who in turn refer clients to foodbanks. Our foodbank has over 100 referral partners and in this role you will be coordinating the issuing and distribution of vouchers to these agencies and entering data on our central database. Read more
