New Chair of Trustees

1st June 2022

After 3 years as EFFB’s Chair of Trustees, we are bidding a fond farewell to Chris Blackham and welcoming Julian Dutnall as the incoming Chair.

After studying Law at Exeter and qualifying as a barrister in 1996, Julian qualified as a teacher and has been in education ever since. Julian has taught in 5 state schools and is currently in his 10th year as Headteacher at Frances Bradley Academy. Alongside teaching Julian Chairs the Havering Festival of Education, sits on the Board of the National Coalition of Girls School in the United States and writes for the National Education Trust.

Upon stepping down, Former Chair Chris Blackham stated “It’s been a huge privilege to serve as part of our amazing volunteer team in the role of Trustee Chair for the past three years. What amazing (and challenging) changes we’ve experienced together during that time!

As I reflect on this privilege I’m constantly blown away by the amazing resilience, compassion and determination of our foodbank community that has enabled us together to serve those in crisis within Epping Forest and to offer them some kind of hope in the face of really difficult circumstances. What a privilege it is to be a part of this!

It’s a great new season for us at foodbank and I’m super excited about our future journey together, which I’ll continue to play a small role in alongside all of you as I remain part of the trustee team.”

Incoming Chair, Julian Dutnall, stated that

“I am delighted to be taking over as Chair of Epping Forest Foodbank from Chris Blackham and working with our amazing director Jacob, his fantastic staff and all our inspirational volunteers.

Whilst we wish we were not needed, it is a privilege to be involved in such a wonderful group of people, dedicated to making sure no one needs to go hungry in Epping Forest “
