Emergency Support – Referral Policy

27th February 2026

The Foodbank exists to support people experiencing crisis. We define a crisis as a situation where there is not enough money in the household to afford sufficient food for everyone living there.

In recent months, we have seen a significant increase in longer-term use of the Foodbank, with some clients requiring support over extended periods. Our model has always been to provide emergency food provision alongside appropriate advice and signposting. The food support we offer is intended as a short-term emergency measure rather than a long-term solution.

Please be aware. At the point of first referral, we will ensure that clients are offered a full signposting conversation so they can access additional support where needed.

Inside our hubs are professional advisors in the Benefits system and Debt relief. As well as full access to the Frontline system to give all our clients the best chance of moving away from needing the Foodbank.

Without engaging in these additional services, there will be a limit of 3 vouchers per 6 months per client.
